One of my very best friends is having a baby girl! Ya’ll, I’m so over the moon about the pending arrival of her first little one! The mama-to-be was my college roommate at Stephen F. Austin, and someone I hold so many memories with! I’m so thrilled to watch her walk through this new journey. She is going to be the BEST mother!!
Hosting
I co-hosted this baby shower with two wonderful friends (featured on the left). They were both so easy to work with and we had the best time planning together!
Brainstorm
During the brainstorming stage it’s easy to create a vision from what YOU love or think is cute. However, it’s important to remember who’s the guest of honor and what their style is. Sarah, the mama-to-be, is a classic girl southern girl. ( She’s so funny and mentioned to me on more than one occasion that she didn’t want unicorns and rainbows! LOL Don’t worry Sarah – we got ‘cha girl!)
When hosting any party I usually start on Pinterest to get inspired. For the most part I have a general idea of my theme before I begin my search. Once I find a few ideas, I tweak them to fit the need of the party.
For this shower we decided to stick to white with splashes of baby pink…so classic and perfect for Sarah!
Food Details
The Cake
We ordered a basic all white cake from HEB! If you have a HEB grocery store near you… their bakery has THE BEST cakes! We decided to add touches of babies breath to give the all white cake a pop of color. The baby blocks used for the cake were ordered off of Etsy. Aren’t those such a sweet touch?! We ended up giving them to Sarah to use in the nursery.
Simple Decor Touches
I always love decorating with the party invitation. It’s an easy way to dress up an empty corner by the food or drinks. You can use any frame around your house – no need to buy new!
Also, do you recognize that pink banner? It’s the one from my lemonade stand decor! I just flipped it around so you couldn’t read the word lemonade. I’m all about repurposing things I have.
Do you recognize that basket? I use it often for home decor or a photo shoot prop! I originally purchased it for Easter, but I most recently used it in Scarlett’s back to school pictures.
For this event I used left over greenery from our floral arrangements. (We made our own). I then placed a few dish towels inside the basket to give the floral height. The greenery hid the towels perfectly! It was the perfect touch next to the cake and utensils.
Cravings Bar
Sarah is craving spicyyyy things! When we originally had the idea of a cravings bar, we discussed how it would be a great excuse to have lots of yummy treats. Little did we know she was craving all things spicy!! LOL This forced us to get creative and figure out how to display all things heart burn!
Decorations
Personal Touches
When I think baby shower – I think baby clothes! How sweet are these monogrammed bloomers and romper?! To achieve this look I ordered pink/white twine and wooden clothespins off of amazon! The clothes we picked were my favorite decor piece of the shower! Sarah’s sister, Allie, has her own Etsy shop called Cherbebe Embroidery. Since these items were to be gifted to Sarah, I knew I wanted them to have a deeper meaning than another monogrammed outfit. I just love the idea that her sister made these for her niece! Allie wasn’t able to attend the shower due to living out of state, so I knew this would be the perfect way to “have her sister and best friend there!”
Cherbebe Embroidery has all sorts of beautiful pieces and custom work. I encourage you to check out this mama run shop! The quality is impeccable! Shop her items HERE!
Make A Statement
Who doesn’t love letter balloons?! I know I’m not the first person these days to use them for party decor. However, they really are the perfect way to make a statement at an event! I love the opportunity to spell out sayings or names. They also create a perfect photo opportunity for guests.
Warm Welcome
Whenever I’m hosting at my house I love to use a welcome sign! This chalkboard is a hand-me-down and I absolutely LOVE IT! It comes in a natural finish, but the previous owner painted it white! I love using a welcome sign for a few reasons.
- It lets people know where the party is and to come in.
- I love to display a funny saying or simple welcome greeting. ( I was really tempted to use the lyrics of the song Sweet Caroline! LOL).
- It ties in the interior decor and gives your guests a great first impression of the party!
*NOTE* I usually tie balloons to the chalkboard for a pop of color. However, it worked out perfectly that I already own this rocker for Scarlett. Always try to use what you have before you buy!
WE LOVE YOU SWEET CAROLINE!!! ( I’m so sad this terrible iPhone picture is all I got of us together!)
