I’m finally sitting down for the fist time since Oliver was born to write a blog post. Phew. Life with three little ones has kept me very busy.
However, I’m so excited to finally share his room ‘officially’ with you. It took time for everything in his room to arrive due to Covid backordering issues (literally his whole room lol), but yay – it’s finally finished! š
At first the overall vision for his nursery was kinda all over the place. I literally had an idea of what I wanted to do for him and was having trouble finding pieces that I liked that were also in budget.
Nearing the end of my pregnancy, I started to panic and went to my favorite place for decor finds – Home Goods. š Once there, I stumbled across the black and white buffalo photograph that hangs now above his crib. Upon it’s discovery I decided then and there to totally switch gears and change my whole mood board for his room.
That Home Goods shopping trip really got my gears turning and I could finally see his room coming together! I was so excited for this new room vibe and quickly ran around the store gathering my finds. In that one trip I found the plant, plant basket, buffalo photograph, crib pillows, green blanket, and the gold circle mirror. Talk about meant to be!! š After scoring big at Home Goods I rushed home and got busy ordering the rest of his room online.
In the end I LOVE the way it all came together. If asked what Oliver’s Nursery style is I would say it’s totally a mix of many styles. There are hints of mid century modern with the curtain rod, dresser and crib; but it also feels very clean and boho with the rug and ottoman pieces. Those two styles are complimented with a twist of is masculine color tones that allow him to grow with the room design and tie the look together.
I really adore his nursery and hope you do too! I’ll link everything I can through out the post and also at the bottom for you to shop the room easily. I hope this post helps you with your design process because sometimes it’s so hard to know where to start.
Don’t forget you can pin any of these images to Pinterest for future baby nursery inspo! š Enjoy!
My Vision board
I often use the app Bazaart when designing a space. This app is a wonderful tool to help you visualize the design as a whole before making any purchases. I love how Bazaart easily deletes the background of product photos and you can manipulate the size of your item on the canvas. Below is my original design for the room using the app. (Using Bazzart Tip* to get started with Bazzart you can take a photo of your room to upload into the app and place product items around the room OR you can create a mood board like I did below by using the white blank background canvas. From there, screenshot or save the product image of your liking to your phone camera roll and upload that image in the app.) Happy brainstorming! š
A rocking chair is a must have for any nursery. This one above does it all! It’s swivel, rocks, and reclines! It’s an item I did a ton of research on.
This nursery is small (it’s actually our office space), so I needed something to fit the tight dimensions, but not too narrow where my husband wouldn’t be comfortable rocking the baby. I not only love the style of the chair, but the slow recline button is amazing for when you want to recline with a sleeping baby in your arms. This chair even has the ability to charge your phone in the side button panel.
This rocker truly does it all! I could go on and on about this chair…but one last thing I love are the arm rests. I found that a lot of the other chairs I looked at in this style had a very stiff arms. I like that this one has a very padded and almost squishy feel to it.
If you’re interested, I linked this rocker from a few different retailers below. It comes in a grey color option as well as ivory.
The green dresser was love at first site. The in real life color is true to these photos. The quality is amazing and it’s something he will have in his room forever.
The acrylic and gold diaper caddy holds all our essentials. I love the look to this container on top of our rattan side table. (which is sold at an amazing price for the quality! I LOVE IT!)
On the bottom of the side table you’ll notice a white woven basket with a leather handle. This storage basket is not only pretty, but also holds all our back up wipes. (I order in bulk off of Amazon so we are always prepared.) As for the diapers, I keep those in the top left dresser drawer.
These acrylic book ledges are a favorite of mine. (we have them in all of the kids rooms)
The shelf ledge is just wide enough to place small decor items on – which I love. They also come in various sizes and in packs of two or four. We love the quality and the reasonable cost.
I decorated his top shelf with his handmade pennant banner, the wooden name sign I used for his birth announcement, and the black and white print that ties in the black window pane crib sheet.
I found his toy/ stuffed animal catch all basket at home goods. Oliver’s lovies and hat are from HERE amd HERE.
This is my third baby but first time using a changing basket and I absolutely love it. This one is amazing quality and comes with a very soft waterproof lined pad. The handles are customizable and bend for when baby grows. I did find that the liner the basket comes with is a small challenge to take on and off for frequent washing. To fix that issue I ordered a white basket liner insert from another brand to place on top of my pad. This liner fits like a glove and makes washing duty way smoother.
Next to the dresser you might notice the Ubbi Diaper pail. This diaper pail brand is a must have for me. I’ve used the Ubbi pail with all three of my kids and I’ve been very happy with it! Unlike other diaper pails the Ubbi can take regular trash bags (saving you from buying those expensive refill bags).
The ubbi also locks shut for curious toddlers and is made of metal so it won’t hold onto any bad smells. (Unlike plastic which over time can absorb the bad poop smell). *Stay tuned for a full post on my nursery favorites and must have items for newborn/baby*
Black window pane crib sheet is from HERE
Oliver’s white crib was something I found on fb marketplace – in like new condition. (yay!) I love the modern look to it and the fact that it’s a good size for this small room. I also really love the way it looks without a crib skirt. I’ve found in the past that crib skirts just aren’t worth the buck. As the baby grows you need to lower the bed and soon that happens the crib skirt looks silly pooled on the ground. It then goes in the closet never to be seen again and to me it’s a waist of money.
At the time of designing this nursery I was debating about using Luke’s old crib for Oliver. However, at the time Luke was still using his crib as a toddler bed and he’s not a fan of change. His crib would have worked beautifully in this space though so I’ll link it HERE.
The artwork above Oliver’s crib is a Home Goods find but I’ll link a similar option HERE , HERE, OR HERE. I also found this print on Etsy recently and thought it would also be beautiful his in room. I’ll link that HERE.
Oliver’s curtains are a beautiful washed velvet that match his dresser perfectly and his curtain rod is from HERE with the oversized rings.
