Scarlett’s very first dance class was yesterday! Y’all I’m still beaming with pride! MY LITTLE BALLERINA! (cue the waterworks!)
Some of you might not know this about me, but I was a ballet dancer for twelve years! I spent six days of the week in the ballet studio and preformed in the Nutcracker every year! Ballet will always be close to my heart!
Therefore, seeing my little baby all dressed up in her ballet attire made my heart explode with pride and joy!
I’m also so thankful Scarlett is equally as excited about ballet! I would never make her do something she wasn’t into, so I’m thrilled this is also her idea of fun! You guys, she LOVED it so much that she cried when it was over! LOL
The Big Idea
As any parent, I wanted to capture her first time in a leotard and tights! Of course, I’m not just a regular mom, I’m a cool mom. š
As y’all know by now, I’m just a little extra when it comes to celebrating! The idea for this ballet mini session came about while I was I was on scrolling instagram. I came across a picture from Pearl and Jane and my idea was born! The posted image was of this black and pink garland and the pennant banner. It was featuring the products for back to school, but all I saw was FIRST DAY OF BALLET!
I asked Amy, the creator, to customize my pennant order with “first day” instead of a specific grade level. That way I could use it for any school year or activity my kids are active in!
As always, her goodies were a hit and arrived swiftly to my front door!
I created my own balloon garland, but I know my girl Tiffany, at Glamfetti could help you out if you don’t have a personal balloon stock like me. LOL
Glamfetti sells customizable garland kits (size and color) that come with easy to understand instructions for you to DIY!
To create the rest of the look I pulled from my pink office pillows, Scarlett’s bedroom white fur rug, and used our pink scalloped bathroom step stool. (a home goods find!)
I shot these pictures in Scarlett’s room specially for her wallpaper! The good news is you can easily re-create this wallpaper backdrop anywhere in your own home! This certain wallpaper is removable and similar to a big sticker! When you take it down, you just peel it off and throw it away! It leaves behind zero damage to your wall!
Scarlett’s full wall is wallpapered, but if you want to create a little photo corner I would buy one roll to create a backdrop!
Photography Tip* Try to pick a spot next to a window so you can get good natural light!
DON’T FORGET! You can pin any of these images to Pinterest! It’s the best way to save this idea for you to re-create one day!
Double the Fun
You might not recognize a new little face on my blog. Everyone, meet Scarlett.. yep, another Scarlett! LOL She’s in our dance class and her mama is just the sweetest person ever!
I thought it would be so fun to create a little photo shoot for the girls and have Scarlett stay and play afterwards. It worked out perfectly because both girls got to know each other and feel comfortable having a friend on the first day of class!

Little Moments
When taking pictures of your tiny dancer, don’t forget all the detail shots! I LOVE these kinds of pictures of all her little fingers and toes! (Even though she is about to be four; I still think of them as little! LOL)
Scarlett putting her putting on her shoes for the first time reminded me so much of a bride on her wedding day! I probably sound soo dramatic, but that image is what came to my mind while snapping these! lol Her face is so focused but filled with inner excitement!
